  • Tell a friend - allows visitors to your site to email a friend to tell them about your website.
  • Photo Gallery. Allows you to build an image gallery automatically. Unlimited categories, unlimited images. Upload one image and it creates both a thumbnail and a larger image to link to.
  • Simple contact form.
  • SiteSearch. A plugin by Rich Pedley that provides a search facility covering both page content and weblog content.
  • Newsletter. Visitors can register for your newsletter, you can create HTML or plain text newsletters and send them to your mailing list. AOL users automatically get a text version.
  • Site map. A plugin by Mel Pedley that automatically generates a site map of your website.
  • Dead page killer. A plugin by Rich Pedley. When you delete a page using the CMS facility the pages remains in the database. This plugin allows you to kill it entirely or bring it back to life.

  • A weblog can now be run from any page. This means that on a site with many contributors, each person can run their own Weblog.
  • Podcasting support has been added, i.e., a sound file can be uploaded via a weblog post and the associated RSS 2 file generated with a music file enclosure.

    This is the easy way to join the Podcasting revolution, e.g., create your own; Web based radio programs, audio diary, audio based tutorials or whatever else takes your fancy.
  • Navigation can now be generated automatically for pages in each category.
  • You can choose to make a page appear or not appear on category index pages.
  • You can change all of the front-end text via the language file, e.g., if you want to 'admin' link to say 'login' instead just change it in the file.

Hand code, PHP Markdown or WYSWYG editing

PHP Markdown is integrated into QnECMS CMS for quick page creating and editing. You don't even need to type in HTML if you don't want to.

Standards based WYSWYG editing is now integrated into QnECMS (Xstandard Lite).

QnECMS CMS has a weblog facility.

  • Add a weblog entry with a single click.
  • Weblog entries are automatically available as RSS feeds via the RSS icon url.
  • Weblog entries have permalinks.
  • Comments can be added to weblog entries.
  • Comments for weblog entries can be turned off.
  • Weblog entries are archived automatically.
  • Additionally - perhaps uniquely - each entry can be mailed to all members automatically (assuming Perl MySQL DB support).
  • Weblog entries and archived entries can be edited by administrators or the member who created the weblog entry.

QnECMS has a comments system

  • Comments can be added to the bottom of any page on the site.
  • Comments can be turned off for any page.
  • Comments can be added as XHTML or text.
  • When text only, carriage returns are converted to breaks.
  • Urls are converted to links automatically.
  • Email addresses are hidden behind a 'post' form.
  • Posters can choose to hide the email address altogether.
  • The IP address of those adding comments is captured and stored in the database.
  • The site administrator and author of the page is emailed when a comment is added.
  • The email to the administrator or page author contains a link to delete the comment.
  • Administrators can deleted comments directly from the page the comment appears on.

The QnECMS online CMS and the design of your website

The design of the site is up to you. Design your website in you favourite WYSWYG application (e.g. Dreamweaver) or by hand using a text editor. You then add the code you have created to the header and footer templates of the CMS.

The PHP and MySQL advantage

QnECMS is written in PHP, and uses MySQL for data storage - technologies that are available from most ISPs as standard.
